In an interview with Bloomberg, Alex Kipman, Microsoft's mixed reality head, shared some details about the next version of the HoloLens 3 integrated reality glasses.Kipman said that HoloLens has so far targeted its augmented reality solutions at top-tier employees who need their hands free. He added that 90% of existing companies are already exploring or using mixed reality. Microsoft has seen particular success in healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and architecture, while other industries are only now discovering the potential of the new revolutionary technology. Kipman believes that the technology is ready to move from the industrial sector to the consumer sector.When asked about the next version of HoloLens 3, Kipman said that the device will improve in three areas:

  • Image quality: The HoloLens 3 will have a higher resolution display than its predecessor, providing a more immersive experience.
  • Weight: The HoloLens 3 will be lighter than its predecessor, making it more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.
  • Power consumption: The HoloLens 3 will be more efficient than its predecessor, providing longer battery life.



In addition to these improvements, Kipman also said that the HoloLens 3 will have a number of new features, including:

  • Improved social interaction: The HoloLens 3 will make it easier to interact with others in virtual reality, thanks to new features like eye tracking and hand tracking.
  • More apps: The HoloLens 3 will have a wider selection of apps available than its predecessor, thanks to Microsoft's work with partners like Niantic and Epic.

Kipman said that Microsoft is committed to making the HoloLens 3 a transformative device, and that the company is not rushing to release it. He said that Microsoft is still in the design phase of the device, and that there is no set release date.However, Kipman is confident that the HoloLens 3 will be a success, and that it will help to usher in a new era of mixed reality.
