By Amit Caesar Over the past decade, the world of virtual and augmented reality has undergone a real revolution, and one of the companies that led this change is Ultraleap – a combination of two groundbreaking companies: the American Leap Motion and the British Ultrahaptics. It all started somewhere in 2010, when the company, then called Ocú Spec Inc., changed its name to Leap Motion and introduced an innovative technology to the world: a small sensor that allows you to control a computer using hand gestures – without the need for physical contact, such as a mouse or keyboard. In 2016, Leap Motion expanded its activities into the world of VR and launched new software for hand tracking in virtual reality. Its technology has become a key tool for developing interactive gesture-based experiences. In 2019, the company was acquired by the British Ultrahaptics – which specialized in haptic technologies in the air (non-contact haptics) – and the new brand Ultraleap was born. Since then, Ultraleap has continued to innovate – especially during a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has created a global need for contactless technologies. The company now produces innovative solutions not only for XR glasses but also for a variety of fields such as healthcare, education, industry and entertainment.
