Meta Celeste โ€“ HUD revolution on the face

After months of leaks, rumors, and partial information, it's now clear: Meta is about to launch innovative smart glasses called Meta Celeste โ€“ a product that takes the next generation of smart glasses a giant step forward. These are glasses with a HUD display in one eye โ€“ just like in futuristic movies โ€“ that displays data such as the time, weather, messages, real-time navigation, photo previews, and even text responses from Meta AI, instead of just audio.

Control with a finger movement โ€“ without moving at all

The real revolution in glasses doesn't just come from the display, but from the way they're controlled. Meta Celeste will come with an advanced EMG wristband (codenamed Ceres) , which detects tiny muscle movements in the wrist and translates them into commands. The gestures detected include:

  • Sliding the thumb over the index finger (e.g. to scroll).
  • Pinch the thumb to the finger and "pull" it sideways or up/down .
  • Wrist rotation while pinching โ€“ probably for special actions or 3D navigation.

All of these actions are performed with the hand at rest, without the need to raise it or speak out loud.

Brand new design โ€“ Meta without Ray-Ban

Unlike previous models that carried the Ray-Ban brand, the Celeste are Meta-branded glasses only โ€“ this is likely due to arguments with EssilorLuxottica regarding design limitations when adding a display to the glasses. The design is thicker, with a more massive frame compared to the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, and weighs about 70 grams โ€“ compared to 50 grams in the current model.

What will you see on the screen?
