Vuzix and Verizon announced the launch of this new technological advancement and commercialization aspects of delivering immersive augmented reality training experiences powered by Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband service and edge computer platform, as well as Vuzix Shield smart glasses, which was named a CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree.
Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI), a leading provider of Smart Glasses and Augmented Reality (AR) technology and products, announced today that it has agreed with Verizon to use Verizon's 5G and edge computing technologies to deliver a first-of-its-kind augmented reality experience in sports and gaming.
Vuzix and Verizon have agreed to collaborate on technology advancement and commercialization of immersive augmented reality training experiences using Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband service and edge computer platform, as well as Vuzix ShieldTM smart glasses, a CES® 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree.
This agreement between Vuzix and Verizon will build on a proof-of-concept program that was completed earlier this year and showed the power of Verizon's 5G and edge computing platform to run applications at the network's edge using Vuzix smart glasses to deliver faster response times, longer battery life, and more computing capacity.
