The team behind the STYLY creative platform, Psychic VR Lab, announced support for augmented, mixed reality (AR/MR) content creation and distribution this week. STYLY allows extended reality (XR) creators to create a variety of immersive virtual reality (VR) experiences that can be used for a variety of purposes, including remote meetings, collaborative spaces, product showrooms, virtual events, and more. STYLY's most recent update now includes AR/MR integration, allowing users to overlay immersive, interactive visualisations onto real-world environments.
Users do not need to scan QR codes to confirm their location because the intuitive creative platform uses accurate GPS data to instantly place AR/MR visuals on top of real-world urban environments. STYLY's platform allows creators to seamlessly import 3D GPS city data to create highly accurate real-world graphic overlays, giving AR/MR content creators a new avenue to distribute independently-developed immersive visuals. 'PLATEAU powers STYLY's 3D city mapping,' but it only supports six major Japanese cities at the moment: Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto, and Fukuoka. Regardless, STYLY is expanding its support for global cities and planning AR/MR city-scale events, such as live performances.
STYLY is a cross-platform application, meaning AR/MR content is deliverable on scale and on many devices, such as smartphones or smart glasses.
STYLY will release the development tools required for individuals to create and distribute their own AR/MR immersive content in the new year. STYLY is shifting its focus to the Metaverse, with plans to use the newly released AR/MR development suite as a starting point for encouraging creators to create Metaverse content.
“We [STYLY] see the Metaverse a new world that [users] can now perceive through technology-enhanced perception. In the future, we would like to evolve and develop STYLY as an operating system for the real Metaverse”
With an accessible cross-platform application, STYLY is cultivating an AR/VR/MR developer ecosystem that expands XR content creation and distribution opportunities. In addition, the platform hosts a variety of events and virtual tours to show STYLY's power. The platform collaborates closely with the NEWVIEW Project and the school to highlight the outstanding work of AR/VR/MR developers. STYLY began as a browser-based platform and has since developed into a cross-platform application available on a variety of leading digital storefronts, including Meta Quest, VIVEPORT, and Nreal.
